The OthersThriller/HorrorPG-13 Thematic elements/frightening moments Written & Directed by: Alejandro Amenabar Starring: Nicole Kidman Grace keeps her two kids in complete darkness, due to the fact that they are allergic to sunlight. Grace also has strict rules about noise and all doors being locked, and when one is open, the one behind is locked. Grace's daughter Anne (Alakina Mann) keeps hearing and seeing an old woman and a little boy named Victor. When Anne brings this to her mothers attention, Grace doesn't believe her. But Grace soon hears voices herself, but doesn't believe they exists, and goes as far as blaming the servants for the unexplained noises. I don't want to go any further, with the plot, as I might expose the 'secret ending' or important details, I want you to figure out on your own. For the movie only running an hour and forty minutes, it moves EXTREMELY SLOW! I like the way the story is sort of structured and told, but I feel the pacing is off. There are some good scare moments, but the way its put into the film, its misplaced within the slow moving story. You feel so tired from the slow moving story, that by the time you get to the scare moments, you might miss them, by falling asleep. I just really can't recommend this film for these various reasons. The ending has a nice pay off, but you get so bored by the story, you just somehow don't care. -John Steffens
