A Knight's TaleAction/Adventure/ComedyPG-13 Violence, brief sex-related dialogue
Written & Directed by: Brian Helgeland A peasant squire (Heath Ledger) takes the place of his master, when the knight suffers an untimely death. He then battles in a string of jousting tournaments and falls in love with the lady Jocelyn (Shannyn Sossamon). The problem with the movie is that the music is WAY out of place, and is really quite distracting from trying to take the movie at a serious level. When you have a jousting match and "We Will Rock You" plays, while the peasants are rhythmically stomping and clapping, is just plain silly. Plus their is a scene, where the NIKE symbol is stamped into a coat of armor-which had my eyes rolling. Some of the dialogue and costumes were a little unnecessary, I guess they have to cater to those teenagers! The movie isn't really that bad as some people are making it out to be. The jousting scenes are quite good. Plus, the chemistry between the characters is really enjoyable. I had a good time with this movie but had a hard time deciding, if the movie is suppose to be serious, or funny. I guess both! But, the movie would have been SO much better with a fantastic musical score! I will recommend this if your a fan of the mid-evil movies. But the MTV edge, might damper your spirits. But, if you just ignore that edge, you just might enjoy the movie. I can't wait till they make a GREAT mid-evil movie!!! -John Steffens
